Last updated: October 31, 2026. We re-checked every price on the brands’ own stores. The PlatinumLED BIOMAX 900 is now $1,299 (was $1,149), and the Bestqool Red240 is no longer in Bestqool’s store, so the budget pick is now the Bestqool Pro100 ($319). We also added the TheraLight 360 and FDA listing details for the clinic beds. Earlier update: August 12, 2026.
Quick Answer: A true red light therapy bed — a horizontal lie-down pod like the NovoTHOR — is a clinic-grade machine that costs tens of thousands of dollars. For home use, the practical full-body equivalent is a large, high-output panel system. Our best overall at-home pick is the Mito Red Light MitoPRO+ 1500+; the Hooga HG1000 is the best value full-body option, and the Joovv Elite is the premium clinic-grade choice.
“Red light therapy bed” describes two very different products. In a clinic or spa it means a horizontal pod you lie inside, lined with hundreds of LEDs. At home it almost always means a large panel — or two panels on a stand — that delivers the same 660nm and 850nm wavelengths to your whole body while you stand or lie in front of it. We compared both, so you can decide whether a pod is worth the price or whether a panel setup covers you for far less. This guide is about the hardware and coverage, not health claims.
Red light therapy beds by the numbers
- Two wavelengths, no UV: full-body beds and panels emit 660nm red and 850nm near-infrared — which the Cleveland Clinic places in the standard 630-700nm and 700-1000nm therapeutic bands — and, unlike a tanning bed, produce zero UV.
- Sessions run 10-20 minutes: most makers and clinics recommend roughly 10-20 minutes of full-body exposure, 3-5 times per week, per device guidance and the Cleveland Clinic’s note that red light therapy is non-invasive and painless.
- Full-body irradiance targets about 100 mW/cm²: most home full-body systems are designed to deliver about 100 mW/cm² at roughly 6 inches — the distance and dose that let you cover the torso and legs in a single short session.
- $319 to $12,199 at home, quote-only in clinics: home panel systems ran from $319 (Bestqool Pro100) to $11,099 on sale, $12,199 list (Joovv Elite 3.0) on the brands’ own stores on October 31, 2026. NovoTHOR and Prism Light Pod don’t publish bed prices and sell to clinics by quote; TheraLight lists its 360 at $74,995 retail on its trade-in page (November 6, 2026).
- Coverage, not one spot: a full-body panel setup treats the whole front or back of the body at once, versus the 2-3mm surface penetration a small handheld reaches over a single area — the reason buyers step up to a bed-style system.

1. Mito Red Light MitoPRO+ 1500+ — Best Overall for Home
Mito Red Light MitoPRO+ 1500+
- Tall panel covers torso and most of the legs in one position — the closest practical thing to a "bed" at home.
- Four-wavelength (630/660/830/850nm) spectrum, rated over 170 mW/cm² at 6 inches, per Mito Red Light.
- Mounts on a door, wall, or floor stand so you can lie under it or stand in front of it.
- Heavy and needs floor space; a stand is a separate purchase.
If you want full-body coverage without a five-figure pod, a tall, high-output panel is the answer, and the MitoPRO+ 1500+ is our favorite. Mito Red Light rates the 1500+ at over 170 mW/cm² at 6 inches on a professional spectroradiometer, and its height lets you cover your whole front (or back) by standing close. Pair it with a horizontal floor stand and it doubles as a lie-under system. For more large-panel options, see our full-body red light therapy panel guide.
2. PlatinumLED BIOMAX 900 — Best Build Quality
PlatinumLED BIOMAX 900
- Excellent build and a modular design — link two BIOMAX panels for taller coverage.
- Seven wavelengths (480/630/660/810/830/850/1060nm), FDA Class II registered, per PlatinumLED.
- Quiet fans and a three-year warranty for the price tier.
- One panel alone won't cover legs and torso at once — plan for two.
PlatinumLED’s BIOMAX line is the build-quality benchmark in this category. The 900 is a large panel on its own, and because the BIOMAX system is modular, two units stacked on a stand approximate a standing “bed” of light. It’s the pick for buyers who want premium hardware and the option to scale up later.
3. Joovv Elite — Best Premium / Clinic-Grade
Joovv Elite 3.0
- Joovv states its panels deliver 660nm red and 850nm near-infrared light, the two core wavelengths.
- Joovv's largest modular configuration — every tier from Mini through Elite is built from the same Solo panel.
- App control, ambient mode, and the closest home setup to a clinic rig.
- The most expensive panel system on this list by a wide margin.
If money is no object and you want clinic-grade hardware at home, Joovv’s Elite 3.0 is the benchmark — the largest configuration in a modular lineup where every tier, from the $1,099 Mini up to the Elite, is built from the same Solo panel. At $11,099 (on sale from a $12,199 list price on October 31) it builds a head-to-toe wall of light that rivals a commercial setup. It’s a serious investment, but it’s the home system that comes closest to a dedicated red light room. See how it stacks up in our Mito Red Light vs Joovv comparison.
4. Hooga HG1000 — Best Value Full-Body
Hooga HG1000
- Large panel with the same 660nm/850nm wavelengths as premium models, for far less.
- Covers the torso in one position; stack two for head-to-toe at low cost.
- The value pick we point most first-time full-body buyers to.
- Plainer build and shorter warranty than premium brands.
The HG1000 is the lowest-risk way to get genuine full-body coverage. You get the same core 660nm/850nm wavelengths as panels costing twice as much, in a large format that handles your whole torso. Two HG1000s on a stand build a budget standing “bed” for well under what a single premium panel costs.
5. Bestqool Pro100 — Best Budget
Bestqool Pro100
- 100 dual-chip LEDs at four wavelengths (630/660nm red, 850/940nm near-infrared), per Bestqool.
- 109 mW/cm² at 3 inches, and 217.8 J/cm² after 30 minutes at that distance, per Bestqool's spec sheet.
- 19.72 x 8.35 in, 6.61 lb, fan-cooled, with red, near-infrared or mixed modes and a built-in timer.
- Half-body, not full-body: Bestqool rates its effective coverage at 25.4 x 10.8 in at 6 inches. The warranty card extends coverage to three years.
If you’re not ready to spend four figures, the Pro100 is the cheapest credible way into larger-area coverage from a brand store. It replaces the Bestqool Red240 we listed in August, which is no longer in Bestqool’s US store. The Pro100 won’t cover your whole body at once, but it’s modular. Bestqool sells two-panel setups (two Pro100s on a stand from $937), and its full-body Pro200 ($589) and Pro300 ($899) use the same design.
6. NovoTHOR, Prism Light Pod and TheraLight 360 — The Real Lie-Down Beds
NovoTHOR, Prism Light Pod & TheraLight 360
- The genuine "bed" experience: a horizontal pod lined with LEDs you lie inside.
- TheraLight says its beds are the only ones with four independently controlled wavelengths (633, 810, 850 and 940nm), with onsite delivery, installation and a lifetime LED warranty.
- NovoTHOR says it is approved or cleared as a medical device in more than 30 countries. In the US, FDA's registration database lists the NovoTHOR and TheraLight 360 beds under product code ILY with no 510(k) number.
- NovoTHOR and Prism sell by quote only. TheraLight's own trade-in page lists the TheraLight 360 at $74,995 retail and the 360+ at $89,995 (November 6, 2026).
Sold direct to clinics and wellness studios. Most people use these per session at a local clinic or spa.
If you specifically want the lie-down experience, the NovoTHOR, Prism Light Pod and TheraLight 360 are the real thing, and you’ll usually meet them at a clinic or spa rather than buy one. All three makers sell to businesses, not home buyers: Prism pitches luxury spas, NovoTHOR and Prism quote on request, and TheraLight lists the clinics that run its beds. TheraLight is the one that does publish a figure, on its trade-in page: $74,995 retail for the 360, $89,995 for the 360+, and $58,500 and up for the smaller FIT at its distributors. Our TheraLight 360 review covers the specs, session prices and return terms. That’s why nearly every home buyer ends up with a panel setup instead.
FDA’s databases show something worth knowing before you book sessions. Infrared therapy lamps (product code ILY) have been exempt from 510(k) clearance since a December 2019 rule change. FDA’s registration database lists THOR Photomedicine’s NovoTHOR beds and TheraLight LLC’s TheraLight 360, 360i, 360+ and FIT under ILY with no 510(k) number. These are registered devices, not cleared ones. If a clinic advertises an “FDA-cleared” bed, ask for the K-number.

Red light therapy bed: by the numbers
- 660nm and 850nm anchor every brand, but wavelength count varies: Joovv sticks to those two core bands, Mito Red Light’s MitoPRO+ line adds two more for four total (630/660/830/850nm), and PlatinumLED’s BIOMAX line runs seven (480/630/660/810/830/850/1060nm), per each brand.
- Target irradiance ≈100 mW/cm² at 6 inches: Mito Red Light rates its MitoPRO+ 1500+ over 170 mW/cm² at that distance, and PlatinumLED’s BIOMAX 900 is independently tested around 90-113 mW/cm² against a claimed 185 or so — be skeptical of huge headline figures measured at zero inches.
- Price splits into three real tiers: at-home panels run $319–$1,299 (Bestqool, Hooga, Mito, PlatinumLED), premium modular systems like the Joovv Elite 3.0 cost $11,099 on sale ($12,199 list), and among clinical lie-down beds the NovoTHOR is sold by quote while the TheraLight 360 lists at $74,995 retail, per each manufacturer’s site (checked October 31 and November 6, 2026).
- Not a tanning bed: red light beds emit zero UV — a different technology from the ultraviolet tanning beds they’re often confused with.
How to choose a red light therapy bed
Decide between a pod and a panel setup first:
- Want true lie-down convenience and have a clinic budget → a bed (NovoTHOR, Prism Light Pod, TheraLight 360), priced by quote. Otherwise, skip it.
- Want full-body coverage at home → a tall panel like the MitoPRO+ 1500+, or two panels on a stand.
- Want the lie-down feel without a pod price → a flexible full-body red light therapy mat you rest directly on, with the LEDs against your skin.
- Want a wrap you can fold flat instead of a clinic pod or a panel-and-stand → the $1,499-$1,699 consumer pods from Mito and Hooga now fill that middle tier — see our red light therapy pod guide.
- On a budget → start with one Hooga HG1000 ($599) or Bestqool Pro100 ($319) and add a second panel later.
- Across all options, confirm the system uses 660nm and/or 850nm, reports irradiance at a stated distance, and emits no UV.
New to the specs? Read our buying guides on irradiance and wavelengths, or start with the best red light therapy panel pillar. Want the lie-down sweat instead of light? An infrared sauna blanket gives you a horizontal, full-body far-infrared session for a fraction of a clinic pod’s price.
The bottom line
A red light therapy “bed” means a clinic machine sold by quote, and you almost certainly don’t need one. For full-body coverage at home, the Mito Red Light MitoPRO+ 1500+ is our best overall pick, the Hooga HG1000 is the best value, and the Joovv Elite 3.0 is the premium clinic-grade route. Choose based on the coverage and budget that fit your space, confirm the wavelengths and honest irradiance, and you’ll get the same light a pod delivers for a fraction of the price.
